FIG Catering … Hmm, Think I Need to Plan a Party Now!
I recently attended FIG‘s spectacular Catering Launch Party held at the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica. Chef Ray Garcia, known for his commitment to sustainable, local, organic fare, was on hand, roasting and carving pigs (below) as well as overseeing the wide variety of the culinary activities going on that evening.
First, the setting for the event was absolutely beautiful. Even the brochure for the catering menu fit right into the overall vibe …
The property has one of the few historic Moreton Bay fig trees in the country which helped to provide not only incredible ambiance but also ended up serving as the foundation for acrobatic entertainment later …
Among the festivities, I made new friends …
And, below, the aforementioned acrobats provided not only mesmerizing performances but also had gorgeous music playing as well …
The food was top notch. Chef Ray really believes in building his menu around what’s in season and he’s developed FIG Catering to work with local growers, purveyors and creameries to ensure only the freshest, peak season ingredients are used. That approach to sourcing was evident in everything I sampled.
I can see how FIG has the ability to provide whatever one would need for a party or event. Starting with roasting whole pigs, fish or other fare …
… and then incorporating into benchmark standard tacos (below, a seabass taco which was probably my favorite dish of the event)
… or to-die-for pork tacos
FIG can also provide scratch bartending …
… Or pretzels and beer
… or pretty darn good hot dogs too!
And, of course, they offer a wide range of starters … including this Salmon Rillette with Creme Fraiche which was perfection …
Overall, after this tasting, I’d love to have FIG Catering help me with an event so now I guess I need to plan one! Maybe a DeathbedFood Launch Party?
