Bouchon Bakery’s DeathbedFood Holiday Treats & Gift Ideas
In my never ending search for DeathbedFood, I recently got the chance to get an up-close look at the holiday treats Bouchon Bakery Beverly Hills is offering this season … and I’m happy to report there are a few DeathbedFood contenders in the dessert and candy categories! As I knew from the Bakery’s opening that all of their items are made in-house, from scratch, I was eager to check out the holiday goods.
Below are the photos of just some of their holiday treats, as taken by Team DeathbedFood’s photographer Jesse Gift …
First, there are the Chocolate Bouchons.
These are definitely a DeathbedFood for me in the dessert category, as they are for Chef Roy Shvartzapel, Bouchon’s Head Pastry Chef. He told me that they’re most incredible when heated in the microwave (16 seconds is perfect in my microwave) at which point they become slightly molten.
Next up is the Peppermint Bark, another DeathbedFood – this one in the candy category.
I’m not usually a huge peppermint fan but this candy made me one. The milk chocolate, white chocolate and tiny bits of candy canes on top really make it a uniquely sumptuous treat!
The “Buche de Noel” (or “Yule log”) is a traditional dessert served near Christmas in France, Belgium, Canada, Lebanon, Vietnam, and several other former French colonies.
And let’s not leave out the Oatmeal Cookies …
Honestly, I’m a bit of a cookie snob. While I don’t cook, I can bake and have been known to make my own pretty mean cookies. I’m frequently frustrated by the high proportion of cookies I find out there which are baked too long and are, as a result, hard as a rock. The oatmeal cookies from Bouchon, however, were perfection … thick, moist and absolutely like the best homemade treats you can find. So good, in fact, I forgot that they didn’t have chocolate in them!
The Snowflake Cookie also caught my attention as it’s so darn pretty, complete with its silver accessories.
Holiday Gift Baskets
I know what I want from Santa this year … a gift basket from Bouchon! They offer pre-made baskets as well as the option for you to select your own treats. In addition to what’s listed above, there’s lots to choose from including their own Granola, their unique Kouign-Amann (which sells out fast every morning), their own Coffee Blend, Twizzle Sticks, Shortbread Cookies, Gingerbread Men Cookies and more.
For my gift basket, I’d be very happy with simply the Chocolate Bouchons and Peppermint Bark. You may order my basket for me (Joking!) online or in person at their Canon Drive location.
