Dating Tips for Guys from Sean Kanan
As mentioned in my last post, CBS Star Sean Kanan has tons of great dating tips in his new book, “The Modern Gentleman: Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan.”
In the book, Sean provides plenty of solid advice for men (and for women who want to learn how men think) about dating and relationships.
His #1 dating tip? Women are not looking for another girlfriend! He feels a lot of guys are confused because, while they consider themselves to be nice guys, they also know that it’s not working for them. “The Modern Gentleman” is a nice guy but not a “nice guy.” He says that a guy can be a gentleman but that he should not identify himself first as a “nice guy” because that’s code for “I don’t have the [guts] to express how I really feel and go after what I really want.” He says that women want a guy to be respectful but they also want him to be a guy. Yes, open doors for a woman … but also know that it’s important to pursue them and make your intentions known!
In dating and relationships, Sean believes there are two types of guys: “Elvis” guys and “Beatles” guys. Neither type is better than the other, they’re just different. Elvis guys inherently understand other Elvis guys – and the same holds true for Beatles guys. In this video, he explains it best himself, along with giving Elvis/Beatle assessments of other stars including Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt and Nicolas Cage:
Hmm, I’m thinking that every guy should definitely get an Elvis Kit in order now, don’t you?
Final tip? As Sean implores on the video, “Guys, do NOT carry your girl’s purse. Just don’t do it. It’s the first step towards getting Adam Lambert tickets.”
PS – Did you know Sean does Stand Up Comedy? He loves doing Stand Up and has been doing since he was 15 years old! He’s now channeling a lot of that funny bone into his writing … but, if you get a chance, you may enjoy checking out his Stand Up sometime as well.
