Chef Conant on his DeathbedFoods at The Taste LA Red Carpet
A huge treat for me at The Taste LA was being able to interview the legendary Chef Scott Conant. Here he shares some of his DeathbedFoods with me (they’re not Italian?):
Generally, I’ve found men and women experience food differently. For me (and many women I know), food can be the “Earth, Moon and Stars” by itself. Most men, on the other hand, seem to have a firmer line in the sand claiming that great food is simply great food – but let’s not get too carried away!
Anthony Bourdain (of Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” fame) has, of course, weighed in on this, recently saying on Bill Maher’s Real Time HBO Show: “It disturbs me when people talk about how chocolate is really orgasmic — or how they like to take food to bed. You know, I believe in separating church and state.”
So how do you weigh in? I’m wondering if others have seen this gender divide?

One thing everyone can agree on is that Scott is the very definition of Celebrity Chef with his acclaimed restaurant, Scarpetta (currently open in five major cities including Beverly Hills at the Montage Beverly Hills), and this year introducing D.O.C.G Enoteca, a new wine bar at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. He is also a guest judge on Food Network’s Chopped and serves as host of the 24 Hour Restaurant Battle. Plus, in 2004, he was named one of America’s Best New Chefs by Food & Wine magazine. And, of course, he has lots of cool stuff planned going forward (blog post on that to follow … Hint: New Yorkers may be in for a treat).
Thanks Chef Conant for a fun – and thought provoking – interview on the Red Carpet!
